    Energy Depletion

We, the Duluth Area Green Party, are convinced that a stark energy future is in store for our community, America and the world in the coming years. We acknowledge the crude oil that fuels much of society is nearing the point of peak production ("Peak Oil") and then will inexorably decline. We acknowledge that natural gas also is at or near peak of production in North America. We believe energy will be expensive and in tight supply in coming years. Many of the goods and foods we need in our area are transported with and highly dependant on oil and natural gas. Thus, We strongly believe that local communities have to take action to educate and prepare for hard truths of energy depletion.
